Analee Aponte, Ph.D.
Psychologist
Hello, I’m Dr. Analee Aponte, a bilingual Provisional Psychologist (English and Spanish) with Sugar Land Psychological Associates. I specialize in treating children and adolescents, with an additional focus on treating adults. My primary focus is providing psychotherapy and comprehensive psychological assessments. My areas of expertise include treating trauma, depression, OCD, ADHD, and anxiety. I offer a range of therapeutic services such as individual, group, and couples therapy, and conduct psychological assessments that address diagnostic clarification, ADHD, and bariatric surgery readiness.
My path toward psychology began with providing social work services to underserved communities in Puerto Rico. During my doctoral training, I gained experience in various settings, including university student services, community health clinics, and pediatric facilities, along with teaching courses on psychological assessment, developmental psychology, and clinical supervision. Additionally, I served as an educator for a sexual abuse prevention program. My research interests focused on mental health stigma, violence, and suicide within the Puerto Rican community, and I’ve presented findings on these topics at multiple academic conferences.
My clinical experience spans a range of interdisciplinary settings including integrated care clinics, pediatric institutes, university counseling centers, and community-based programs. I completed my internship at PR Advanced Psychiatry Residency and received postdoctoral training at Sugar Land Psychological Associates, focusing on child and family services. In these roles, I have provided trauma-informed therapy, conducted comprehensive psychological assessments, and worked collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Academically, I have contributed to multiple research initiatives examining barriers to mental health access, stigma related to serious mental illness, and the prevention of child sexual abuse. I have held teaching assistant roles in courses on developmental psychology, psychological assessment, and supervision. I hold several certifications, including in Positive Discipline, Trauma-Informed Care, and Level 2 Gottman Method for Couples Therapy, and am a certified Encouragement Consultant.
Beyond my clinical and academic work, I enjoy cooking, reading, watching documentaries and series, and playing pickleball. My husband, also a psychologist, and I share a wonderful pet named Mylo. We’re both avid travelers, finding inspiration and a deeper appreciation for different cultures along the way.
