Our People

André Fernandes, Pharm.D., M.S., BCPS

Forensic Pharmacist

Hi there, I’m Dr. André Fernandes, a trilingual (English, Spanish, and Portuguese) Forensic Pharmacist with Sugar Land Psychological Associates. I am board certified in clinical pharmacy, and specialize in the intersection of pharmacology, medicine, and law, providing expert consultation, medication review, and testimony on drug interactions, toxicity, and prescribing standards in both civil and criminal cases. I help attorneys and courts interpret complex pharmacological data and medication histories to clarify issues of causation, impairment, standard of care, and issues arising in drug development and clinical drug trials.

As a forensic pharmacist, I draw on years of experience as a clinical research pharmacist across several world-class medical institutions, including the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center – James Cancer Center, and MD Anderson Cancer Center. At MD Anderson, I presently serve as a primary member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), overseeing cancer drug development and clinical trials to ensure that all research upholds the highest standards of safety, ethics, and scientific integrity.

Throughout my career, I have collaborated with leading hospitals and research centers across the U.S. and internationally on projects involving drug development, clinical trial design, and pharmacovigilance. A major focus of my work is on developing and monitoring investigational drug trials, and translating emerging research into clinical practice. Additionally, I am a published author, having contributed to book chapters, journal articles, and peer-reviewed abstracts, including presentations at psychology and neuropsychology conferences, reflecting my commitment to bridging medicine, neuroscience, and behavioral science.

On a personal note, I am married to my wonderful husband, Dr. Derek Ream, and we share our home with our two dogs, Giovani and Annie. I enjoy traveling, exploring international cuisines, and learning new languages.

Dr. Andre Fernandes, Forensic Pharmacist.
