Autism Assessment & Evaluation
Understanding Autism
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, social interaction, and behavior. Every individual experiences autism uniquely—some may need extensive support, while others have exceptional abilities in specific areas. Recognizing autism as a spectrum helps in understanding the varied strengths and challenges each person faces.
Why Autism Assessments are Important
An accurate autism assessment is a crucial step toward accessing the right support and interventions. Here’s why these evaluations matter:
- Early Diagnosis and Intervention: Early detection of autism can lead to timely interventions, enhancing social, academic, and communication skills.
- Personalized Support: Detailed assessments identify unique strengths and challenges, allowing for tailored intervention plans and educational strategies.
- Empowering Families: For families in San Antonio, Houston, Sugar Land, and across Texas, an autism diagnosis provides clarity and directs you to the right community resources and support networks.
- Guiding Future Planning: With a comprehensive evaluation, long-term plans—from academic adjustments to career guidance—can be effectively mapped out.
Can I Receive Academic Accommodations?
The short answer is, “no.” Our autism assessment is purely for treatment planning purposes only; most insurance plans will not view an assessment for educational purposes (i.e, to receive academic accommodations) as being “medically necessary,” thus they will decline to pay for the service. Additionally, our assessment procedures and report may lack essential elements that schools, testing companies, or licensing boards may require to qualify for an accommodation.
Are Autism Assessments Covered by Insurance Companies?
Typically, yes. We will attempt to verify your insurance benefits; however, verification does not guarantee payment for services. Our team will do their best to review your plan and advise you of your benefits before confirming your appointment, so you can make an informed decision.
How the Process Works:
Clinical Interview
1. To gather relevant historical information and symptoms.
2. To customize the plan for the testing session in order to answer the questions you or your referring provider have.
